It downloaded the whole 8 years worth of images again and I was overjoyed, but anything over 2-ish years has once again disappeared. Initially I thought I’d lost all these photos until I got a new phone a couple of weeks ago and reinstalled Whatsapp. All my photos and videos were always available to view in chat on Whatsapp until recently where I noticed the app only keeps a couple of years worth of photos. After much hassle I managed to merge all of the Whatsapp chats, images, and videos together.
So a little background, between 2015-2017 I’d (stupidly) switched to iPhone and then back to Android again.
